For the past 24 years, the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign has been dedicated to ending gender-based violence at local and international levels. This year the 16 Days Campaign will focus on the theme ‘From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All!' Education is a public good and fundamental human right recognised in Article 26 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and, more recently, in the UN's adoption of Sustainable Development Goal 4 on ensuring inclusive and quality education for all. GPPAC recognises the important role of education in preventing conflict and building peace. On 3 December 2015, we convened a Twitter Teach-in to showcase how education and conflict prevention can strengthen each other, as well as women's participation.
