Nansen Dialogue Centre Serbia and the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict in the Western Balkans organise the regional arts & peace competition since 2010.
The regional arts competition is organised for students of primary and secondary schools in the Western Balkan region. The competition was launched on the occasion of the International Day of Peace (21 September) with the objectives:
- To introduce students to the idea of the International Day of Peace;
- To encourage students to find creative ways in which they as individuals can contribute to peace;
- To encourage a discussion on the importance of each individual's contribution to non-violent conflict resolution and sustainable peace building;
- To contribute to the security of people, tolerance and reconciliation in the Western Balkans…
The competition was supported by the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Montenegro.
After the closing of the competition, the international jury selected twelve + one winning artworks, out of around 2000 submissions which will illustrate the Peace Calendar for 2015.
