The UN Peacebuilding Fund

The Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) is a voluntary trust fund created alongside the Peacebuilding Commission and Peacebuilding Support Office in 2005. It is intended to provide short-term, catalytic funding for projects aimed at preventing a relapse into violent conflict, or those that may find difficulty receiving financial assistance in the very early stages of a peacebuilding process. The PBF supports countries on the PBC's agenda, as well as other post-conflict countries declared eligible by the Secretary-General. In critical situations, the Fund may also provide financial assistance to individual projects under the PBF Emergency Window at the request of the senior UN Representative in the country.
