Since its inception GPPAC has strived to focus its work around certain thematic areas as way of: 1) ensuring that GPPAC's work is content-driven; 2) ensuring that GPPAC's work is focussed and 3) ensuring that GPPAC members work together around shared priorities. The themes for the 2011-2015 period have been selected based on their relevance for most of its regional networks as well as at global level. The themes were also selected based on GPPAC's achievements so far, and on the consideration of the network's added value. The core thematic working areas of GPPAC for 2011-2015 will be Preventive Action and Dialogue and Mediation. In addition, two other themes, Peace Education and Human Security, will be addressed as priority areas for an initial 2-year period, after which time they will be re-evaluated. In addition to this, Gender will be a cross-cutting theme.
