GPPAC South Asia

GPPAC –South Asia aims at a paradigm shift when addressing conflict; a shift from ‘reaction to prevention'. It works to prevent violence and destructive conflict by building just and sustainable peace especially, through transformation of conflicts' underlying causes.

The combination of activities conducted through GPPAC-SA will aim at: addressing root causes by creating choices for the deprived; building capacities for peace by providing effective peace education; developing necessary skills to deal with conflicts and to re-build fractured relationships; striking partnerships with policy making authorities on peace, security and human rights and raising awareness of positive peace building exercises on the ground through assisting replication of such projects and dissemination of knowledge. The process of implementation will essentially be through participation of local communities and local and national stakeholders.

In the next five years, GPPAC South Asia's regional strategic plan will be focusing on the themes of Preventive Action (including Human Security), Dialogue & Mediation, and Peace Education. In addition to this, the network will also focus on mainstreaming Gender in all of its activities.
